Cooper, Where Are You?GENRE: Mystery, Drama, Thriller, Crime, Action.PAGES: 106.STATUS: Writing Sample. (Industry Professional Requests Only)PROJECT HISTORY: This feature screenplay was written in 2003 while I was corresponding with retired FBI Agent Ralph Himmelsbach, who was in charge of the Cooper case when it happened in November 1971 and until his retirement in 1980. News of the project also caught the attention of a relative of an actual FBI confirmed ‘Cooper suspect,’ which set in motion some very interesting dialogue between myself, the suspect’s relative, Himmelsbach, and my manager at the time. All the while, when completed, the script received an MGM first-look read by a notable producer. My manager was also talking of attaching A-list talent at the time for Cooper (Kevin Spacey).A Canadian production studio also had an impressive, customized, interior filmset of a 727-100 airplane that was mobile and retractable with a cockpit, cabin, and aft staircase. It allowed for the expansion of the sides for the cast, crew, and cameras to film more accessible and comfortable shots in the cabin sequences. Despite everything coming together, the project fell through since the still recent hijacking tragedy of events of 9/11. And with Hollywood playing it safe with no film plots of terrorism, plane crashes, hijackings, and explosions.
